Sweet DNF fan video

News
Posted by: Caleb Welty at Dec. 28, 2010 8:05 am

Gaming news is slow around the holidays and most of what comes out isn't worth reading...but we'd be remiss if we failed to mention this one. A group of Finnish film makers have posted their tribute to the upcoming game, Duke Nukem Forever. It's extremely well done, very 'Duke Nukem-ish', and it will help rabid fans pass the time until the game is released.

In case the above image wasn't enough of a clue, the video includes some pole-dancers (Duke doesn't give singles to his sister). There isn't any nudity but, for those who care, it is obviously a mature theme.

Video after the break.

The World of Hunted

News
Posted by: Michael Shipe at Dec. 23, 2010 11:05 am
Bethesda Softworks, just released new footage of the world of Hunted. As a good introduction for the mystical world, the video will get you hyped about this medieval/zombie crossover. Maybe it's unfair to throw the word zombie around like that, but hey, that's what it reminds me of.

Crashers is now in closed beta

News
Posted by: Caleb Welty at Dec. 22, 2010 10:38 am

Punchers Impact has just announced that their MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena for the uninformed) genre title Crashers has enter closed beta status. It appears to be a standard MOBA, meaning that it features an all out duel to the death in an arena. To accomplish this, players are given large vehicles that liberally dole our painful death to whoever crosses their path.

Click here to go to the game's Facebook fan page, where you can view pictures, learn more about the title, and profess your undying love for MOBAs by 'liking' the page. They are also running a promotion where 250 of the first 1000 fans of the page receive a beta key!

We've posted the full press release after the break.

Max Payne 3 delayed...or maybe worse?

News
Posted by: Caleb Welty at Dec. 20, 2010 10:12 am

When Take Two released their quarterly results last week they included an updated release schedule. There was nothing that surprised us on the list - Duke Nukem Forever will hit stores in 2011, BioShock Infinite in 2012, and so on and so forth.

But there was one title that was conspicuously missing...Max Payne 3. You know, the game where Max goes from a svelte action hero to an overweight, balding couch potato in 12 years? Yet he still seems to be able to pull off the crazy action moves we know and love...but we digress.

Anyhow, remember how the game was scheduled for Holidays 2009, then it changed to just '2010'? Well now we've reached the point where Take Two isn't even mentioning it on their release schedule. Not too good, my friends. But don't worry, when Kotaku asked Take Two what was up they said, "We're still working hard on Max, and we'll have more news in the coming months."

So at minimum we know the game is delayed...worst case, they'll let us know that they've really been working hard on their ping-pong skills and the game is official canceled.

Blizzard confirms Titan

News
Posted by: Caleb Welty at Dec. 17, 2010 1:44 pm

A leaked release chart has been floating around the Interwebs lately. Purportedly it is an internal document from Blizzard...leaked to the press by a mischievous contact in China. We've refrained from commenting on it, simply because of how easy it would be to fake a release schedule. Besides if it is real, what exactly do you learn? Yes it says Diablo 3 will be released in 2011...isn't that what we expected?

Yet there was one news-worthy item from the schedule. Allegedly Blizzard is planning on releasing a game called Titan in 2013. There were no details about game...just the title and the release date.

Well this rumor suddenly received a huge boost in credibility because at the Spike Video Game Awards Destructoid managed to ask Frank Pearce, a producer with Blizzard, what exactly is Titan? This is what he said, "The media is not supposed to know anything about that. It's our next-gen MMO, and we've only started talking about it in a limited fashion because we wanna leverage the fact that we're working on something like that for the purpose of recruiting, getting some of the best talent in the industry on that project."

Ok folks, maybe this leaked release schedule is the real deal!

News
Posted by: Michael Shipe at Dec. 16, 2010 10:31 am
Bethesda Softworks is releasing their first downloadable content for Fallout: New Vegas. Dead Money will be available for Vault Enthusiasts on December 21st. The trailer, released today, sets the stage for some kind of twisted challenge. Break into the Sierra Madre Casino, steal their legendary treasures and earn your freedom. Oh, and do all this while wearing an explosive collar.

Here is how Bethesda Softworks described it:
As the victim of a raw deal you must work alongside three other captured wastelanders to recover the legendary treasure of the Sierra Madre Casino. In Dead Money, your life hangs in the balance as you face new terrain, foes, and choices. It is up to you how you play your cards in the quest to survive.

Mass Effect 3 - Still Single Player

News
Posted by: Michael Shipe at Dec. 15, 2010 11:11 am
The multi-players out there cried a single tear today when a moderator smashed all hope that players would be defending Earth along with their friends.
Now that BioWare has officially announced Mass Effect 3 with their press release yesterday, I’m going back to my age-old thread closer here: Mass Effect 3 is a single-player game.

Infinity Blade collects major App Store cash

News
Posted by: Caleb Welty at Dec. 14, 2010 9:55 am

This morning the iOS GameCenter is reporting that over 280,000 users have played Infinity Blade. 280,000 people buying the game at $6 a piece means that Epic Games made at least $1.7 million dollars in 4 days. On top of that, Epic Games' Vice President Mark Rein has tweeted that the GameCenter numbers are just a small subset of the actual count of people who purchased the game.

Considering that Cut the Rope previously held the fastest selling app record with $1 million in 10 days...it's pretty clear that Infinity Blade has blown the lid off of App Store sales records.

But what's even better is that Mark Rein how now confirmed new FREE content for the game is on the way. Wootz!
