John Carmack just gave an amazing demonstration of id Software's Rage running at 60fps on an iPhone 4. He went on to say that the game could even run on the iPhone 2G, but it would look best on the iPad. How he managed this is beyond us, but he did manage to slip in a comment that iPhone 4 games will "kill anything done on" the PlayStation 2 and Xbox. Nice!

A short version of the game will be available in the AppStore by the end of year, with a much larger follow-up sometime next year. Carmack also mentioned that he is considered releasing something for the Android Market but that wouldn't happen for at least a year and would depend on certain market factors.
